Ich werde am 12. und 13. Juni 2012 in Guilin / China einen Vortrag halten. Mein ehemaliger Arbeitgeber, der chinesische Vize-Bauminister Dr. Qiu Baoxing hat mich auch dieses Jahr wieder zur grossen Konferenz über Stadtentwicklung in China eingeladen – ich bin seit 6 Jahren regelmäßiger Vortragender auf dieser ziemlich grossen und wichtigen Konferenz. Ich werde einen Vortrag halten mit dem Titel “ Redefining the Transport Paradigm: Providing integrated Mobility Services“.

Dear Falk Kagelmacher

During the process of urbanization, cities in China are facing huge challenges such as traffic jam and environmental pollution. How to combine urbanization with ecological and low-carbon development, abandon the extensive mode of city development and construct low-carbon and ecological city will be the new solution to cope with climate change and promote urban sustainability, and it is also a top priority for China’s 12th Five-Year Plan.

To this end, the 2012 Conference on Urban Development and Planning, supported by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, P. R. China, will be held on June 12-13, 2012 in Guilin of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Chinese Society for Urban Studies, Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People’s Government of Guilin Municipality and Urban Planning Society of China will co-host the conference as its organizers, together with the support from other governments, organizations and institutes at home and abroad, aiming to learn from other countries the advanced experience, innovative technologies and managerial approaches to tackle various challenges confronting urban development.

Already ranking one of the most influential conference in urban planning and design area in China, the Conference on Urban Development and Planning was first hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, P. R. China in 2006, until 2011 it has been successfully held annually for six times, with great supports from domestic and foreign governments, and has been seeing dramatic growth in scale and impact year after year. Now the conference has attracted more than 6000 participants in total, among which consists of officials, experts and scholars from governments of China, Britain, the United States, Germany, Singapore etc., and related organizations and companies in and abroad.

The 2012 conference takes “Livable, Low-carbon and Sustainable City Development” as its theme, and the conference topics are as follows:
